Vacuum energy in a spherically symmetric background field.

چکیده
The vacuum energy of a scalar field in a spherically symmetric background field is considered. It is expressed through the Jost function of the corresponding scattering problem. The renormalization is discussed in detail and performed using the uniform asymptotic expansion of the Jost function. The method is demonstrated in an simple explicit example. متن کاملDependence of the vacuum energy on spherically symmetric background fields
The vacuum energy of a scalar field in a spherically symmetric background field is considered. Based on previous work [Phys. Rev. D 53 (1996) 5753], the numerical procedure is refined further and applied to several examples. We provide numerical evidence that repulsive potentials lead to positive contributions to the vacuum energy. Furthermore, the crucial role played by bound-states is clearly...
متن کاملSpherically Symmetric Solutions in a New Braneworld Massive Gravity Theory
In this paper, a combination of the braneworld scenario and covariant de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolley (dRGT) massive Gravity theory is proposed. In this setup, the five-dimensional bulk graviton is considered to be massive. The five dimensional nonlinear ghost-free massive gravity theory affects the 3-brane dynamics and the gravitational potential on the brane. Following the solutions with spherical s...

متن کاملLemaître Class Dark Energy Model for Relaxing Cosmological Constant
Cosmological constant corresponds to the maximally symmetric cosmological term with the equation of state p = −ρ. Introducing a cosmological term with the reduced symmetry, pr = −ρ in the spherically symmetric case, makes cosmological constant intrinsically variable component of a variable cosmological term which describes time-dependent and spatially inhomogeneous vacuum dark energy. Relaxatio...
